Our Fundraising

We have supported many different charities over the years but earlier this year we decided to bring a more focussed approach to our fundraising efforts and really make a longer term commitment to supporting the charities that our staff feel most passionately about; Willowbrook Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Once our charities were confirmed, we appointed a fundraising committee, whose role it is to set targets, plan events and crucially to work with the fundraising managers of the respective charities.

Coming Up

June - A 4-man relay cycling team, led by our MD Richard Potter, is going to attempt to complete the John O'Groats to Land's End journey, non-stop in under 3 days. Follow us on twitter (@enashawlejog) to feel our pain!

July 7th - Led by our resident netball expert Julie Gough, we will hosting a mixed team netball tournament; all spectators welcome!!

Additional Ongoing Activity

Throughout the year, we will provide Willowbrook Hospice with large amounts of fabric - for each kilogram donated, this is literally turned into cash and forms part of monies raised.

In addition we will sell lapel pins to our staff and customers alike and furthermore will encourage staff to donate any loose change they may have by placing coin boxes around our sites.

April 2012

An incredible month for us with lots of activity, but our biggest news was that our lads Gary Kenny and Bobby Vose ran the Manchester marathon. Despite the weather, they completed it in fantastic times; not only that, they raised £1,300 whilst doing it.

"It goes without saying that we are incredibly proud of not only Gary and Bobby for their fantastic performance this weekend, but of every single person who works for Ena Shaw who have helped us achieve our ambitious target so much sooner than we had anticipated. We may have met our target, but we are definitely not stopping here."

March 2012

March saw our staff charity party at the local rugby league ground. We had a great attendance and lots of fun and managed to raise over £2,400 by doing so.

December & January 2012

We held a few in-house events, with our most popular being our Christmas raffle, cake sale and bingo.

October & November 2011

Halloween was our thing during October, with spooky Pumpkin competitions and the less-spooky book sales and clothes donations taking place during November.

September 2011

September saw a week long drive with a cake sale every day to coincide with the Macmillan World's Biggest Coffee Morning, selling a massive 596 portions of cake.

Amongst other things we held a raffle to win some much coveted tickets to see our local team St Helens in the semi-final of the Rugby League Challenge Cup, and a sponsored car wash, with our Directors washing as many staff cars as possible during the day. It was a fantastic end to the week and over 30 cars were cleaned in total, which added to our other activities, raised over £850, bringing our total raised over the last 5 months, to over £1500.

This is only the beginning though; we have loads more events coming up and it goes without saying, we will work really hard to achieve our ambitious target of £10k for our local charities."

August 2011

By August, we had really started getting into the swing of things and in addition to lots of internal activities, we held our first Management Car Wash. This involved an open invitation to our 200 plus staff, to deliver their cars, no matter how mucky, to our Directors to make them spick and span. It was a long day for our Directors, but a hilarious day for everyone else, with much laughter and a fantastic community spirit.

June 2011

In June our Managing Director Richard Potter, took part in The Great North Swim. This kicked off our fundraising activities, raising just under £300 from a staff sweepstake based on the time it would take him to complete the course.
